Jose Rivera

Jose A. Rivera

Owner / Managing Member

Jose Rivera is the founder and visionary behind Mid-Atlantic Building Services, LLC which was founded in 1997. With over 23 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, Jose Rivera has dedicated his life to building his technical skills and reputation in this highly competitive profession. Mr. Rivera began his career in construction working full-time as a "helper" for a general contractor while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Old Dominion University. Mr. Rivera invariably worked his way through the ranks of that construction company learning all facets of the construction process. Then, in 1997, Mr. Rivera took a leap of faith and started his own Class A commercial construction company, Mid-Atlantic Building Services, LLC.

He is an active member is several industry associations and is active in his community.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Rivera makes his home in Virginia Beach with his wife and two daughters.

Jerry Kent

Senior Project Manager

Jerry joined MBS in March, 2011 and brings a vast array of construction experience to the company. Prior to arrival at MBS, Jerry served as a US Army Comptroller, working extensively with Military Construction, and Budgets and Project Management/Contracting. Immediately afterward, Jerry was a Project Manager/Estimator at a local cabinet making company. Most recently Jerry was an equity partner with a local Class A contracting firm from 1996-2010. His background includes tenant improvement, new construction and design-build projects.

Jerry's specialty areas include: medical, dental, veterinarian, education projects, professional Class-A office build-outs , office/warehouse, and retail..

Jerry holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Finance and a Masters of Business Administration. Jerry is married; has two children; and resides in Virginia Beach.

Leon Ambrose

Project Manager

Leon Ambrose joined MBS in 2011 as Project Manager. Prior to joining MBS, Leon served as a Project Manager for a local general contracting company who focused on retail and office build-outs. Leon brings with him 10 years of Project Management experience and a thorough understanding of the construction process. Customer satisfaction and a job well done are key components in Leon's objective with MBS.

Leon's experience as a carpenter, cabinet maker, field superintendent, and Project Manager has put him in a position to deliver a quality project on time, and on budget. With a high concentration on commercial tenant build-outs and a long list of national retail clientele, Leon can get your project done from start to finish.

Leon holds an Associate's Degree from Virginia Wesleyan College. He and his wife are both lifelong residents of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Shawn Peterson

Shawn Peterson

Office Manager

Shawn Peterson joined MBS in 2016 as Office Manager. Prior to joining MBS, Shawn was Office Manager of a family owned HVAC Supply company for 20 years.

Shawn has quickly become a vital part of our team, and demonstrates knowledgeable accounting and management skills.

Shawn studied Business Accounting at American Intercontinental University. She resides in Chesapeake, VA with her husband.
